4 months!!!

Zoey turns four months old tomorrow. I can not believe it. She has grown so much and is just so much fun. She absolutely loves her saucer. Any time she starts getting a little fussy, put her in the saucer. I really think it has helped her sit up and become stronger too. She is getting really good at sitting up on her own. She can almost roll over, but has the hardest time rolling back over once she is on her tummy. She hates being on her tummy too, so I don't know how that is going to work with crawling. She loves the camera and will smile on command. I love it. She has started laughing too. She has the cutest laugh. It just makes us grin from ear to ear to hear such a sweet laugh. So when is the best time to introduce cereal and baby food? She is acting like she wants some, but I have no idea. She drinks 6 ounces in a bottle, so should I just maybe up the ounces? How come the doctors at the hospital do not give you a book on all this or am I just a dumb mom???

You're not a dumb mom! I was the same way, I to was looking for a book! I started Logan on rice cereal at four months and just mixed it with his milk, there is also oatmeal. At about 5 months I started giving him solids, the Gerber first foods, and he was in heaven! Your little Zoey is so adorable:)

Cute pic's man.
I started Masaru at 4 and a half months and Yuki at 6 months.
They recommend 6 months but it's up to you I think, you know your daughter.

Yeah, the new recommendation is to wait until 6 months to start foods. Lots of people still start at 4 months, though. The important thing to remember is that no child ever starved to death or developed poorly because they started solid foods too late. (And you're not dumb at ALL. If I weren't surrounded by nurses and if I hadn't just taken Hammy in for his 2-month appointment, I wouldn't know JACK.)

She is so stinking cute. I started George on cereal at four months and Charlie at six months. The recommendations usually vary between four and six months and I think you just wait until you think your baby is ready. I really like the Baby Wise books...not everything they say is great but they have a lot of info about this type of stuff.

They also say look for signs of them being interested in foods like watching you eat. I started Payton at 4 months but the only way she ate cereal was with applesauce(baby food stage 1) mixed in. It's all up to you, if you think she is ready try it see how she responds the first couple of times and then decide if you are sticking to it or going to try again later on.

She is so cute! I can't believe how big she is getting! Wasn't she born yesterday?

Anyway, I also started both my babies on rice cereal at four months. If you think she's ready I'd go ahead and let her try it. Just go slow, and up her milk if she's still hungry. Hope it all goes good!

Try it and see. If after a few days she's not getting it, wait a few weeks and try again. I just went through this with Reese and some signs to look for is if they're interested in food, can eat from a spoon, and are an independent sitter. You said that she's getting better at sitting up by herself so you might want to wait a week or so just to get more confident.

Zoey is so cute!! I can't believe she is already four months old. Crazy!! I totally felt the same way. I had no idea when to start doing all that stuff. I think I started Q on it at 4 1/2 months. Good luck!

The book you are talking about is On becoming baby wise--very helpful! With her stats she will be fine until 6mo.

Every baby is different. Our doctor suggested feeding Graham rice cereal between 4 and 6 months. I did it at 5 because he wasn't sleeping through the night anymore and it seemed like he needed something more to keep him full. I mixed it with milk. Good luck!

She is adorable!

They told us that we would know he was ready when he would watch us eat and sit propped up. He would smack his lips when we would eat so we knew he was ready. Anyway, it is really frustrating because I always feel like I don't know what I am doing. But the good thing is . . . neither does any other new mom! :) Try out the rice cereal and see if that helps. I know they do not suggest babies younger than 4 months to eat rice cereal, but now that she is 4 months I think you are fine.

Also, once I had Graham it was a little overwhelming to get so much advice sometimes so just do what you think is best.
